Shaun Brady

27th March 2018

My father Sean Brady of Earlscourt Street Belfast has recently passed away and from some newspaper cuttings I found he played for St Paul’s Belfast against Cuchullains (Dunloy) in the final of the Antrim Junior Hurling Championship at Corrigan Park in Belfast I think the year was 1943 do you have any more information please. He also played for St Paul’s against Sarsfields around the same time but I am not sure when that final was. Thank you Shaun Brady

ill share and hopefully the clubs mentioned might have some information. We are sorry for your loss.

Thank you.

I noticed a while back the league fixtures were to be released, have I missed the publication and If so do you have a link or could you give me an actual date. Thanks for any help. Regards SD

The final version is ready to be published. We are expecting the first batch of fixtures out this week and the rest to follow asap.

There have been problems with dates. County Committee are aware of such problems.

If you need to find out more contact your county committee representative.

In response to John; the digital scoreboard has a capacity of 7 letters to display team names. For Club games we would use N Eoin for the home team. This year, to display the name of the away team, we have used Leitrim (Liatroim), Dublin (Áth Cliath) and Wicklow (Cill Mhantáin). For these games the choice was to use English names or an abbreviated form of the Irish equivalent. Regarding the use of Irish for the announcements, the club PRO is proficient in Irish and I'm sure he will be happy to increase usage. Jim Donnelly...

Thanks Jim. Query dealt with .

Serious question - is there a reason why when the county team play in Corrigan the scoreboard isn’t in Irish. I have travelled to most games this year and everywhere else the scoreboards were in Irish as it was in Cushendall today. I see from the twitter pic that it was also in Irish in London. Should all county boards not be doing all they can to promote Irish particularly at this time - perhaps also by making announcements in Irish as well as in English.

We will pass your comments to the hosts.

Division 2 Defenders

Congratulations to John 'Rocky' Dillon on receiving his award of Ulster Hurler of the Year. Played club season out of place up in the forwards but was outstanding for the County in defence keeping most full forwards scoreless.

Well done Rocky!

Admission Prices

8th February 2018

General question: Who sets the admission prices for the National League games? Antrim v Dublin (NHL) last weekend at Corrigan Pk. £14. Antrim v Waterford (NFL) thise week, same venue - £9. Curious as to why there is a £5 difference?

Croke Park set the prices. It is out of our control. Division 1 games differ in price from Division 4 games.

I just noticed that the fixtures are to be out soon - a massive congrats on the Board and those organising it in how efficient they are being and how good the communication has been - really appreciated from a player's point of view! Just wondering if there will be games scheduled for Fridays now - given that there was a strong demand from the players themselves for this. Also, keeping Easter weekend free would be great! Time spend with family during this period would be nice! Just my suggestion before things are drafted.

The CCC no doubt will look at your suggestions.

Very sad to hear of the passing of John o boyle. John has served the gaa in SW Antrim for many years, to all his family, friends, and fellow gaels deepest sympathies.

John  is being waked at his home on the Greenan Road and his remains will be removed at 6.00pm on Sunday to Sacred Heart church Cargin where he will be buried after 11.00am mass on Monday.
